This is the first stop of our Big Northeast Trip where we plan to go the famous Swiss Festival in Ohio, Niagara Falls, Blue Ridge Parkway, and several Airstream Rallies.
We came to this campground outside of Birmingham to visit with Dave’s middle son Michael, his wife Kristin, and four grandchildren. They tent camped one night at this campground and we all went on a hike the next day to the furnaces.

The second night here Dave went to see ‘Casting Sparks in the Dark’. Monthly a group of iron workers meet at this park performing a public iron pouring. They poured the molten iron into molds making decorative bowls and other things.

We didn’t love this park for camping. There were too many ‘full time’ campers it appeared. The sites were somewhat cramped. We were on a nice little creek, but really couldn’t get down to it from our site. There were some very nice bike and hiking trails. They had many events going on and historical places to tour which was really nice.
Next Stop: Seven Points, Mt Juliet TN
